In the Philippines, Joe Armstrong, an orphaned vagrant who has little regard for anything beyond martial arts, finds himself on an American Army installation after a judge gives him the option of conscription or incarceration. One of the rebels who ambushed his unit's convoy on one of its first operations kidnapped the daughter of a base colonel and tried to seize weaponry the platoon had been escorting.
