Bitter Rice

When Francesca and Walter, two small-time criminals in Northern Italy, are caught, Francesca disguises herself as a female rice farmer in order to get away from the authorities. Silvana, a voluptuous peasant rice worker, and Marco, a soon-to-be-discharged soldier, greet her. It is in the rice fields that Walter follows her, where he and the three other characters become caught up in an intricate conspiracy of theft, love, and murder.
