In his practice, Elliot has an identical twin named Beverly. Elliot is drawn to and has affairs with many of his patients. When he loses interest, he hands the woman over to Beverly, the more meek of the two. Beverly develops feelings for one of the patients, Claire, but when she accidentally deceives him, he goes insane.
