Generational Sins
The loss of their mother brings two estranged brothers back together. Her final request is for them to be reunited with their abusive, alcoholic father, who she believes abandoned them when they were little. A voyage takes them back to their hometown, which is filled with sad memories that the younger brother does not recall and that the older brother want to forget. They struggle to understand what it means to be "at home," both for those who choose to remain and for those who choose to go, as each brother re-connects with the town and its inhabitants. A last confrontation with their father's recollection and his character is required, and they are compelled to choose between forgiveness or bitterness as a result. In 'Generational Sins,' we will look at the concepts of home, grace, and forgiveness, as well as how these principles influence our decisions and the consequences they have on other people's lives.
