Ghosts of Mississippi
Ghosts of Mississippi is a drama that follows the final trial of the assassin of civil rights hero Medgar Evers, Bryon De La Beckwith, who took his own life in the 1960s. Starting with the murder and the circumstances surrounding the two original trials, which both ended in a hung jury, the novel follows the characters' journey through the legal system. The film then follows the metamorphosis of District Attorney Bobby DeLaughter and his partnership with Myrlie Evers, the wife of Medgar Evers, as he becomes more involved with bringing Beckwith to trial for the third time, 30 years after the first trial. Some of the characters are performed by people who were involved in the narrative in some capacity.
