Ivan the Terrible, Part I

Another producer disagreement with Eisenstein's attempts to use forbidden experimental filmmaking techniques and massive expense overruns resulted in the film's cancellation. On the other hand, the third part was only in its early stages of filming when shooting was suspended altogether. On his quest to unite the Russian people, Ivan is betrayed by the aristocracy and even his closest friends in this first act.
