Magic Beyond Words: The JK Rowling Story
Poppy Montgomery stars in a made-for-TV film titled Magic Beyond Words: The J.K. Rowling Story. The film, which was shot in locations throughout British Columbia, Canada that were altered to look like British locations, chronicles the journey of struggling single mother J. K. Rowling, her quest to become a published author, and her meteoric rise to fame following the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. The film premiered on Lifetime on July 18th and received mixed reviews for being underwhelming (mostly due to the author's fiercely private nature), but it revealed some information on her personal life, with sequences depicting her brutally violent first marriage and her mother's death. J.K. Rowling is the world's first billionaire author (in US dollars), and the films adapted from her books are the top grossing films of all time. According to reports, Poppy Montgomery obtained blue contact lenses in order to portray the very prominent author.
