Onoda: 10,000 Nights in the Jungle
The year is 1944, and the location is Japan. An intelligence officer, Hiroo Onoda, a 22-year-old trainee, discovers a mindset that goes against the official line: no suicide; stay alive regardless of what occurs; the task is more vital than any other consideration. A guerilla struggle will be waged on Lubang, a small island in the Philippines, where the Americans are due to land, until the Japanese troops return. In less than 10,000 days, the Empire and Onoda will both fall.
