Red Desert

Italian woman and mother Giuliana urgently tries to hide her weak grasp on reality from people around her, especially from Ugo, her successful but inattentive husband. Giuliana lives amid modern wastelands and poisonous factories. Corrado, an old friend of Ugo's, happens to be in town on business and is more sympathetic to Giuliana's worries. They begin an affair, but Giuliana's existential anxieties remain unabated, and her mental health progressively deteriorates as a result of it.
