San Demetrio London

Based on the historical account of the 1940 rescue of the tanker MV San Demetrio by members of her own crew after she had been set ablaze by the German heavy cruiser Admiral Scheer and then abandoned in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The next day, when one of the lifeboats floated back to the flaming tanker and discovered that she had not exploded, they decided to board and extinguish the fires. Eventually, they were able to restart the engine, at which point they resolved to attempt to reach Britain against all odds.
