The Black Sleep

In nineteenth-century England, a renowned brain surgeon saves a former student from hanging on a spurious murder charge and whisks him away to an ancient, repurposed abbey in the countryside. There, he connives his pupil into assisting him in mapping the activities of various areas of the human brain using living individuals who are sedated with a dreadful substance known as "black sleep." Subsequently, the student and the daughter of one of the subjects learn that the majority of these subjects have survived but are being held in a dungeon-like cellar in varying states of derangement...
