The Bridge on the River Kwai
English POWs in Burma were compelled to construct a bridge to aid their captors' war efforts by the Japanese. This is the famous account of their plight. Col. Nicholson, the commander who oversaw the bridge's construction, has developed a sense of pride in his work and tries to thwart the plans of British and American intelligence officials.
