The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson
Johnson, a renowned presence in New York City's homosexual ghetto and a relentless voice for LGBT pride since the days of Stonewall, co-founded Street Transvestites Action Revolutionaries (S.T.A.R.) with fellow trans icon Sylvia Rivera, a trans activist group centered in the heart of NYC's Greenwich Village. The NYPD ruled her death in 1992 a suicide, but her friends refused to believe it. The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson is a whodunit that honors Johnson's long political impact while also attempting to solve the mystery of her unexpected death. It stars activist Victoria Cruz as the detective and audience surrogate.
