The Inn of the Sixth Happiness
Gladys Aylward, an Englishwoman born in Shanghai, had always known that China was her homeland. Gladys works as a domestic to pay for her trip to an impoverished, isolated hamlet even though she isn't qualified to be a missionary there. In the end, she manages the inn, serves as "foot inspector," advises the local Mandarin, and falls in love with mixed-race Captain Lin Nan. During the Japanese invasion, when she must save Chinese children from certain death, Gladys finds out what her true calling is. Based on a real-life incident.
