The Killing of a Chinese Bookie
A genuine affinity exists between Cosmo Vittelli, the operator of a seedy, low-rent Hollywood cabaret, and the women who perform in his peepshows as well as the workers who keep his shabby establishment running. He also has a significant gambling issue, which has gotten him into trouble in the past. When Cosmo loses a large sum of money at an underground casino owned by mobster Mort, he is unable to make up the difference. Mort then offers Cosmo the opportunity to repay his debt by taking down a troublesome, Mafia-protected bookie. Cosmo accepts.
