Vatel
In1671, as war with the Netherlands was developing, a destitute prince invites Louis XIV to Chantilly for three days of celebrations. The prince's extravagant behavior is intended to please the monarch, who will then grant him a commission as a general. A man of honor and talent, Vatel, is the steward in charge of everything. As a prince, the prince craves greatness and will give Vatel any work, no matter how menial or dishonorable, in order to achieve it. Vatel tries to maintain his dignity, but he can't help but be attracted to the king's newest mistress, Anne de Montausier. In Vatel, she discovers a man who is true to himself, despite the casual cruelty of the courtroom. Is it possible for the two of them to get out of this situation unscathed?
