A Woman Called Moses
The TV miniseries A Woman Called Moses is based on the life of Harriet Tubman, an African American slave who escaped and helped set up the Underground Railroad. She led dozens of other African Americans from slavery in the South to freedom in the North and Canada. The production, which was narrated by Orson Welles, was shown on the NBC television network on December 11 and 12, 1978. Cicely Tyson, who won an Emmy Award and was nominated for an Academy Award, played Tubman.
