Another World
Another World is an American soap opera that lasted for 35 years on NBC, from May4, 1964 until June30, 1999. Set in the fictional town of Bay City, the show's early years begin with announcer Bill Wolff reciting the show's epigram, "We do not live in this world alone, but in a thousand other worlds," which, according to Phillips, represents the distinction between "the world of events we live in, and the world of feelings and dreams that we strive for." As compared to other soap operas, Another World concentrated less on the ordinary drama of daily life and more on the exotic melodrama between families of different classes and ideas.
