Bette is an American television series that debuted on CBS on October 11, 2000. The show was the first time that actress Bette Midler starred as the main character in a television series. A "one-season wonder," the show had a total of 16 episodes that were broadcast on CBS before it was cancelled on March 7, 2001. There were a total of eighteen episodes created, with the last two being shown on HDTV simulcasting as well as in international markets. Jeffrey Lane is responsible for the creation of Bette, and Bette Midler is one of the executive producers on the show.
