Carlos / Le prix du Chacal
Carlos is a 2010 French-German biographical film about the 1970s terrorist Carlos the Jackal, from his first assaults in 1973 to his capture in 1994. It broadcast as a three-part TV miniseries on Canal+ in May, May 26, and June 2010. The entire 512 hour version premiered on Canal+ and in Cannes out of competition the same day. Olivier Assayas directed the film from a script by Daniel Leconte, Olivier Assayas, and Dan Franck. Édgar Ramrez plays Carlos. The film exists as a three-part miniseries and a feature film between 338 and 319 minutes, but also in abbreviated forms between 187 and 166 minutes. Carlos has won both theatrical and TV awards, including the 2010 Golden Globe for 'Best Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television', the 2010 Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Director, the National Society of Film Critics 2010 award for Best Director, and the New York Film Critics Circle 2010 award for Best Foreign Language Film.
