Children of the Whales

Chakuro is the Mud Whale's 14-year-old archivist, a near-utopian island that floats in an infinite sea of sand. Nine out of 10 Mud Whale residents have been gifted with the ability to use saimia, extraordinary abilities that doom them to an early demise. Chakuro and his companions have visited other islands, but they have never met, seen, or heard of a human not from their own. Chakuro visits a Mud Whale-sized island one day and finds a girl who would transform his life.
