Faerie Tale Theatre
The live-action children's television anthology series Faerie Tale Theatre retells well-known fairy tales. The show is aimed towards younger audiences. Shelley Duvall is not only the narrator and host of the program but also the executive producer, and she also occasionally appears as a guest star. The series was succeeded by another, shorter series that followed the same style as Faerie Tale Theatre and concentrated on traditional American folk tales. That series was titled Tall Tales & Legends. Both of these shows feature well-known performers and directors, and they drew their inspiration from a children's television series called Shirley Temple's Storybook. Showtime was the initial broadcaster of Faerie Tale Theatre, which ran from 1982 through 1987. In subsequent years, it was shown as edited reruns on the Disney Channel as well as in syndication on a number of different television networks, such as PBS and BookTelevision.
