In Living Color
In Living Color is an American sketch comedy television series that aired on the Fox Network from April 15, 1990 until May 19, 1994. Keenen and Damon Wayans, brothers, developed, scripted, and starred in the show. The show was produced by Ivory Way Productions in collaboration with 20th Century Fox Television and taped in front of a live studio audience at stage 7 of the Fox Television Center on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, California. The series' title was inspired by an NBC announcement in the 1950s and 1960s that broadcasts would be delivered "in living color," prior to the widespread adoption of color television. It also refers to the fact that the majority of the show's cast was black, as opposed to other sketch comedy shows such as Saturday Night Live, whose casts are normally largely white. Other members of the Wayans family, including Kim, Shawn, and Marlon, had regular roles, while Dwayne frequently appeared as an extra. The show also included previously unknown actors/comedians Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx, and David Alan Grier. Additionally, actress Rosie Perez, Dancing with the Stars judge and choreographer Carrie Ann Inaba, and dancer Jennifer Lopez were members of the show's dance troupe The Fly Girls. In 1990, the show received an Emmy for Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Series.
