Iron Chef America
Iron Chef America: The Series is an American cooking show that is based on Fuji Television's Iron Chef. It is the second American translation of the series, following the unsuccessful Iron Chef USA, which was the first attempt at an American version of the series. Food Network, which is also responsible for producing the show and aired a dubbed version of the original Iron Chef, is the channel that is responsible for producing the show. The program is a cooking competition show, just like the one that originally aired in Japan. In each episode of the show, one of the resident "Iron Chefs" faces off against a new challenger chef in a one-hour cooking competition based on a secret ingredient or ingredients, and sometimes a theme. As opposed to being a rehash of the last Iron Chef show, this one is promoted as a sequel to the one that came before it. Mark Dacascos, an actor and martial artist, plays the role of the Chairman. Dacascos is presented as the nephew of the real-life Japanese chairman Takeshi Kaga, who served in that capacity for many years. Alton Brown is the only one who offers analysis, and Kevin Brauch is the one who covers what happens on the floor. Composer Craig Marks is responsible for the music, and at the end of 2010, he issued a soundtrack titled "Iron Chef America & The Next Iron Chef." In addition, regular ICA judge and host of Chopped Ted Allen gave additional floor commentary for two special battles: Battle First Thanksgiving and Battle White House Produce.
