Power Play
CTV showed Power Play from 1998 to 2000. The series was shot at Hamilton's Copps Coliseum. Michael Riley played Brett Parker, a former NYC sports agent who became GM of the Hamilton Steelheads. One of the series' throughlines was Parker's love-hate relationship with the sport, the squad, and his boss, Kari Matchett's Colleen Blessed. Jonathan Crombie, Jennifer Dale, and Al Waxman also starred. The show's theme tune was a modernized version of Stompin' Tom Connors' "The Hockey Song," performed by Connors and Rusty. The show was pulled after two episodes on UPN in 1999. The second US broadcast is the lowest-rated prime-time TV episode ever telecast by a US network.
