Megan Smith, a young assistant at a glossy magazine who is smart and quirky, is let go as it becomes clear that having a Yale degree will hold her back from advancing her career in the realm of tabloid journalism. Her employer feels sorry for her situation and sets her an interview with the rich Laurel Limoges, who is interested in hiring a live-in tutor for her granddaughters who are twins. Megan is determined to win over the beautiful and defiant twins despite the fact that they are not particularly delighted with their new instructor. Meanwhile, Megan is enjoying the trappings of her new work, which include a jaw-dropping private apartment, a magnificent automobile, and a live-in chef.
