Remington Steele
American television series Remington Steele. The series included elements of romantic comedy, drama, and police procedural. Remington Steele is renowned for starting Pierce Brosnan's career and paving the way for Moonlighting. The concept of Remington Steele is that Stephanie Zimbalist's character Laura Holt, a certified private investigator, founded a detective service under her own name but discovered that potential clients refused to hire a woman, regardless of her qualifications. Laura invents a male superior with the name Remington Steele in order to address the problem. Pierce Brosnan's character, a former robber and con man whose real name is never disclosed, takes the guise of Remington Steele through a series of events that unravel in the first episode, "License to Steele." Laura maintains strict control behind the scenes.
