Rescue 8
Rescue 8 is an American action drama series that is syndicated. It follows the adventures of Rescue Squad 8 of the Los Angeles County Fire Department. It first aired in 1958 and was initially scheduled to last for two seasons; nonetheless, syndicated reruns of the show continued for almost ten years after its conclusion. Lang Jeffries played the role of firefighter Skip Johnson, and Jim Davis, who would go on to feature as Jock Ewing on CBS's Dallas years later, played the role of fireman Wes Cameron. Patty Johnson, the wife of Skip Johnson, and Susan Johnson, the daughter of Skip Johnson, were portrayed by Nancy Rennick and Mary K. Cleary, respectively, in twenty-four different episodes of the show. Screen Gems was responsible for producing the series, and directors Dann Cahn and William Witney were involved in its creation. There were a total of seventy-four episodes of half an hour each created for Rescue 8. The actual location of the Los Angeles County Fire Department Station 8 in West Hollywood, California can be found at 7643 West Santa Monica Boulevard. Due to the fact that firefighters at the time were not trained as paramedics but only obtained the enlarged duty in the early 1970s, the rescues depicted in Rescue 8 are more physically focused than those in the later, comparable television series Emergency!
