Survivors
The BBC aired the science fiction programme Survivors in the United Kingdom. In this story, a group of people have managed to survive a particularly deadly strain of influenza that has so far killed out the majority of humanity. It is not a recreation of the 1970s BBC television series, Survivors, but rather a loosely based adaptation of Terry Nation's novel, Survivors, which was published after the first series of the 1970s series aired on BBC. The new show was developed in two installments. Series 1 ran on BBC One and BBC HD from November to December2008, and series 2 ran from January to February 2010 and ended with a cliffhanger. Survivors was canceled by the BBC on April 13th, 2010, due to low ratings and other factors. Broadcast on BBC Entertainment in South Africa, NRJ 12 in France, and BBC America in the United States, the series premiered in September 2009, January 2010 and February 2010 respectively. The series premiered in Australia on Channel Nine on the 21st of March of this year.
