Sykes
From 1972 through 1979, BBC 1 broadcast the British sitcom Sykes. It was written by Eric Sykes, who had previously acted with Hattie Jacques in Sykes and A... and Sykes and a Big, Big Show. "Stranger," based on a 1961 episode of Sykes and a Stranger, was remade in color for the 1970s, including guest actor Peter Sellers, as were 43 episodes of the 1960s black-and-white series. A similar plot to Sykes and A... saw Sykes, Richard Wattis, and Deryck Guyler reprise their roles as Sykes, Jacques, and Jacques. When Hattie Jacques died in 1980, the series came to a close as a result.
