The Games
The Games was an Australian mockumentary TV show about the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. The series was first shown on ABC. It had two seasons with 13 episodes each, the first in 1998 and the second in 2000. "The Games" starred satirists John Clarke and Bryan Dawe, as well as Australian comedian Gina Riley and actor Nicholas Bell. John Clarke and Ross Stevenson both wrote it. The show was about the Sydney Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games. It made fun of corruption and cronyism in the Olympic movement, bureaucratic incompetence in the New South Wales public service, and unethical behavior in politics and the media. One unusual thing about the show was that the characters had the same names as the actors who played them. This was done to make it seem like a documentary about the Sydney Games.
