The Last Tycoon
The Last Tycoon was the final novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald. It tells the story of Monroe Stahr, often known as Hollywood's Golden Boy, and his struggle against Pat Brady, the studio's father figure and boss, for control of the studio's identity. In a world made gloomier by the Great Depression and by the expanding influence of Hitler's Germany, The Last Tycoon shines a light on the ferocity, brutality, and towering ambition of Hollywood in the 1930s.
