The Love Boat
The Love Boat is an American TV show that took place on a cruise ship. It ran from September 24, 1977, to May 24, 1986, on the ABC Television Network. Gavin MacLeod played the ship's captain on the show. It was on ABC's popular Saturday night lineup with shows like Fantasy Island until 1984, when that show ended. The show was based on a made-for-TV movie from 1976, which was based on a nonfiction book called The Love Boats by a real-life cruise director named Jeraldine Saunders. Before the show started, there would be two more TV movies. Aaron Spelling was the show's executive producer. From the 1960s to the 1980s, he made a number of successful shows for ABC. In 1997, "Hidden Treasure," "Picture from the Past," and "Ace's Salary," which were all parts of the same episode, were ranked No. 82 on TV Guide's list of the 100 best episodes of all time. There were 10 seasons of The Love Boat, not counting the specials.
