The Vice
The Vice is an ITV police show about the Metropolitan Police Vice Unit. It aired for five short series between 1999 and 2003. It tells the story of the London Metropolitan police force's vice squad, where prostitution, underage sex, and other types of organized crime are common. Most episodes end with the main villain being caught, but not in a way that would be "natural" in other TV dramas. In fact, most episodes leave more questions unanswered than they answer. Detective Inspector Pat Chappel is in charge of the small, dedicated team. Like the rest of the team, he has trouble balancing his work and home life. Working in the seedy underworld makes the team face problems all the time. The tension between the Vice Squad and the vice-related crimes they investigate runs throughout the series and makes it interesting to watch. The show often makes it hard to tell if the team is staying on the right side of the law because almost every member of the team gives in for a short time or for good to temptations like sex, drugs, money, or "honey traps." Sometimes with very bad results.
