The Virginian

The Virginian aired on NBC from 1962 to 1971 with 249 episodes starring James Drury and Doug McClure. It was a spin-off from the Decision summer series from 1958. The Virginian was the first 90-minute western series on television, and it was shot in color. It was a huge hit, and it lasted nine seasons, making it the third longest-running western on television. It comes after fourteen seasons and 430 episodes of Bonanza and twenty seasons and 635 episodes of Gunsmoke.
