Alice in the Cities
When attempting to write an article about the United States, German journalist Philip Winter experiences writer's block. He decides to return to Germany and, while looking for a flight, runs into a German woman and her nine-year-old daughter Alice. The three become friends (almost by necessity), and while the mother asks Winter to look after Alice temporarily, it quickly becomes clear that Alice will be his responsibility for much longer than he anticipated. After returning to Europe, Winter and Alice's innocent friendship grows as they travel through various European cities in search of Alice's grandmother.
