Jerry Mulligan is a vivacious American expatriate in Paris attempting to establish himself as a painter. Adam, his close friend, is a failing concert pianist who has been Henri Baurel's longtime collaborator. Milo Roberts, a lonely social woman, takes Jerry under her wing and encourages him, but she is also intrigued in his work.
