As though plucked from today's news about fires, evictions, and street rallies, "Another Barrio" chronicles housing inspector Bob Morales' investigation into the odd circumstances surrounding a tragic fire. While investigating a residential hotel in the Latino Mission District of San Francisco, Morales comes face to face with corruption at City Hall and the mysterious Sofia Nido, a lovely flame from his past. Morales must also confront his personal problems while investigating the incident, and he becomes entangled in a perilous web of deception as he is lured into the dark underworld of bribery, corruption, and murder. This indie Neo-noir feature film, based on a story by San Francisco Poet Laureate Alejandro Murguia, takes audiences on a journey through areas and communities rarely seen on film, while also addressing concerns of gentrification and displacement of low-income communities.
