A newspaper at the turn of the 20th century plans an endurance horse race consisting of 700 miles to be completed in a few days. Miss Jones, a Mexican, an Englishman, a young cowboy, an old cowboy, and Sam Clayton and Luke Matthews are among the nine competitors. All of these individualists will develop mutual regard for one another.
