Steven Spurrier, a wine specialist residing in Paris, travels to California in search of inexpensive wine that he can use in a blind tasting in the French capital. When the conceited Englishman accidentally stumbles upon the Napa Valley, he is taken aback by the discovery of a winery producing excellent chardonnay. To build a name for himself, he sets out to transport the liquor back to Paris.
