Edmond Burke, a seemingly mild-mannered businessman, visits a fortuneteller and overhears a comment that prompts him to leave his wife and go in search of what he feels is lacking from his life. Edmond's walls to his long-suppressed rage are weakened as a result of his encounters with strangers and unsavoury characters, and he eventually erupts in violence.
