Flee
Amin, an Afghan refugee who fled as a child, reflects on his history as he struggles to come to terms with a truth he's kept concealed for the past two decades. A compelling documentary that uses animation and archival material to tell the story of a gay Afghan war survivor who must face his past if he is to have a future worth living. As an unaccompanied minor, Amin landed in Denmark without his parents. He is now 36 years old, a respected academic, and engaged to be married to the man he has been dating for the past five years. For almost two decades, the man has kept a secret from himself that threatens to derail the life he has established for himself. With his best friend by his side, he's finally spoken up about his past. Using a breathtaking collage of photos and recollections, FLEE tells the moving and unusual narrative of a young guy trying to make sense of his troubled history and discover who he really is and what home means to him.
