Moondance Alexander
Moondance Alexander is a lively adolescent who lives with her eccentric mother. She faces another routine summer until she comes upon a lost pinto pony named Checkers who has jumped out of his corral. Although Moondance returns the horse to his true owner, the gruff and secretive Dante Longpre, she is certain that Checkers is actually a champion jumper in disguise and is determined to assist him in reaching his full potential. Moondance convinces Dante to prepare her and Checkers for the Bow Valley Classic and, despite her friends' judgment, realizes that effort, loyalty, and originality may lead to victory.
