When heiress Jean Courtland tries to kill herself, her fiance, Elliott Carson, looks into what she and John Triton have in common. In a flashback, we watch how the stage mentalist Triton begins to see terrible glimpses of genuine precognition. Whitney Courtland utilizes Triton's talent to gain money; but, Triton's inability to avoid what he foresees forces him to leave the act and become a hermit. Triton has new views and urgently seeks to prevent tragedy in the Courtland family years later. Can his warnings prevail against skepticism, disbelief, and fate?
