Shrek the Musical
Shrek The Musical is a musical written and directed by David Lindsay-Abaire, with music by Jeanine Tesori and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire. It is based on the 2001 DreamWorks Animation film Shrek and the 1990 book Shrek! by William Steig. It received eight Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical. Amazon.com confirmed on July 19, 2013, following the closure of the national tour and West End productions, that the filmed performance would be available for instant viewing on September 17, 2013. On the same day, a DVD, Blu-ray, and digital download were also released. The performance is a mash-up of several live performances as well as one shot without an audience. The original principal cast, as well as various alumni from the show's Broadway run, appear. It also keeps the song "Donkey Pot Pie" rather than the replacement, "Forever."
