That Hamilton Woman
In the position of British ambassador to the Court of Naples is Sir William Hamilton, a widower in his golden years. Emma, who comes to Naples with her mother for a visit, would not pass muster with the upper crust of London society, but she gets along swimmingly with the Queen. Emma enjoys her new role as Lady Hamilton, and everything seems to be going nicely until Lord Nelson pays her an unexpected visit. To begin with, Sir William resolves to allow his young wife to have her fling while maintaining his innocence. Real-life lovers who met on the set of "Fire Over England"(1937) and had their first on-screen relationship there, have an even stronger attraction to each other in this picture.
