The Color of Pomegranates
The biography of Sayat-Nova, a great Armenian poet and musician who lived in the 18th century. The film depicts events in the artist's life from boyhood until his death, focusing on his connections with women, including his muse, throughout the course of the narrative. Using both Sayat-poems Nova's and mostly still camerawork, the production portrays the dramatic story of his life, resulting in a work that Mikhail Vartanov has described as "revolutionary."
