The Journey of August King is a multi-layered play set in 1815 North Carolina. After selling his crops and buying the stock and commodities he needs for the winter, August King, a widower, is on his way home. August King must decide whether to break the law and help a runaway slave, or to leave her to be hunted down and returned to her slave master.
