Beauty and the Beast
Madame de Villeneuve's narrative was adapted into Beauty and the Beast. La Jeune Américaine et les contes marins, published anonymously in1740, depicts Belle, a happy and touching girl who falls in love with the Beast, a cursed beast seeking love and redemption. A child's version was released in 1760. From this version, Jean Cocteau and Walt Disney drew their famous adaptations. Original version by Madame de Villeneuve has never been adapted for the movie... until now.
