Brackenmore
Brackenmore is a close-knit community with a dark secret. Kate (Sophie Hopkins) is compelled to return to her ancestral home, a tiny rural community in the south of Ireland, after the tragic death of an uncle she never knew she had. Soon after her arrival, she meets Tom (D.J. McGrath), a fascinating young local who aids her in rediscovering her long-forgotten roots and forgetting about her worries in London. The longer Kate remains in Brackenmore, the more she realizes that the oddities of the estate's self-protective people may be more ominous than she first suspected, and that the sequestered family estate is hiding a dark and ancient secret. Brackenmore snakes its way under your skin, alternating between conventional horror and esoteric riddles, from the opening moments of a deadly car crash to the unexpected ending. As Hopkins explores the dark terror that is Brackenmore, cinematographer Justin McCarthy retains a steady hand as he captures the wordless anxiety that grows.
